The Department of Commerce began its functioning in 2010 with a single batch of 36 students in B.Com Computer Application. In 2012, the department was enlarged by introducing B.Com with Finance & Taxation and M.Com Finance. The Department intends to provide academic excellence to its student community in commerce. It is now one of the college's most prominent and largest departments.

The curriculum for commerce formed by M.G. University is aimed at developing and promoting scientific methods in business, with special reference to skill development and proficiency for employment. It also aims at training learners for self-employment and inculcating an aptitude for pursuing higher studies. To accomplish this objective, the School of Commerce is therefore occupied with a group of highly qualified, experienced, diligent, and committed professionals possessing updated and dilated administrative, scholastic, and industry experience. The faculties are rightly handpicked by the institute for the comprehensive development of the students. The teaching process is further augmented by various visiting faculties from esteemed institutions.

The department's role is to act as a catalyst, facilitator, and motivator for the students of Commerce through group efforts and to achieve greater success and make an enhanced contribution to society by providing opportunities for polishing skills, education, and innovative guidance.
