DIST Yoga club have formed to enhance the physical and mental health of the students. Yoga always enables good health for the practitioners. It will strengthen the ability of grasping power and provides good concentration. Students those who practice yoga every day will be very focused in their dailylife.

The yoga club at DIST enhances the mental and physical health of the students. We associate various programs with enriching the inner strength among the club members. The weekly classes in the yoga room train the students regarding various asanas, yoga posters, meditation techniques, etc. We also teach the importance of yoga in our daily lives.

An awareness session was held on yoga by the yoga club of DiST College Angamaly, on 21st November Monday, under the leadership of the new yoga trainer.
The programme began with an audio prayer song and thereby Asst. Prof. Vidhya V, the key coordinator of the club extended the words of welcome to the Guide and the whole audience. Later Mr. Jaigi Samagra, the guide made us more aware about the importance of yoga and its other health implications, also the students got an opportunity to clarify their doubts. The session came to an end by the words of gratitude by the President of DiST Yoga Club Mr. Libin Joseph.
De Paul Institute of Science and Technology (DiST) organized ‘De Spectra’ –the formal inauguration of various clubs in the college and celebration of Kerala Piravi Day on 1st November 2022 at 1.30 pm. The function started with a prayer song seeking the blessings of the Almighty. The welcome address was delivered by Abhijeet Raj Singh, student of MA JMC ’22, School of Media and Communication. This was followed by the presidential address delivered by Rev. Dr Johny Chacko Mangalath V.C. (Principal, DiST). He exhorted the students to make maximum use of the clubs as a launch pad for their future academic and artistic goals. The Principal also explained how clubs provide myriad opportunities for both the intellectual and personal growth of the students.
The function was inaugurated by Mr Erin Varghese (former IMCA student, DiST) who is the current National Games Gold Medalist. He spoke about how the college helped him focus on his goals and mould him into the sportsperson he is now.
Following this, there was a ceremony for the inception of office bearers and coordinators of 14 clubs of DiST. The office bearers were given their designated sashes and after the introduction, cultural programmes or presentations representing the club were held. So the newly elected members of DIST Yoga club who received the designated sashes are Libin Joseph ECJ 21 (President), Jils George ECJ 21(Secretary) and Alan Santhosh IMCA 19(Treasury) Each club got an opportunity to present something creatively based on their clubs. So we the Yoga club members performed various asanas (postures) of yoga with a musical background to make the audience aware of the benefits of Yoga. We also presented a short video clip which showed the importance of yoga among college students.
The program was concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Hasna K.A, student of MA JMC 21, School of Media and Communication. On the whole, the program was a grand success and can be considered one of the important events of this academic year.
In connection with the world’s 8th International day of yoga, DiST celebrated 21st June 2022 as its yoga day. The day was observed with one and half hour session on yoga chaired by Master Sidharth Lakshmi the yoga trainer. The programme began at 11:30 AM and ended at 1:00 PM. The programme was officially inaugurated by Rev.Fr.John Mangalath V C the Principal. The day was also blessed with the loving presence of our Vice Principal, Yoga Teacher and 300 students.>/p>
On this day we officially unveiled our logo of the Yoga Club and students had a wonderful interactive session with Mr. Sidharth Lakshmi. He also guided a common yoga session involving all the participants.

This was followed by presidential address by Rev Fr. Robin Chittuparambil (Vice principal, DiST), who is also in charge of all the clubs. Then Dr. Unny C.J,Principal, DiST gave introduction about 15 clubs present in the college and the myriad opportunities it provides for both intellectual and personal growth of the students.
The function was inaugurated by Mr Swaroop Janardhanan (former MBA student, DiST) who is a dancer, model and as a manager at kudumbasree bazar. He spoke about how he overcame a disability with grit, determination and confidence.

International Yoga Day was observed under the leadership of NSS Units in collaboration with DES of DisT on 21st June, 2019 in the DiST Annex Seminar Hall. It was inaugurated by Fr George Pottayil VC, Director of the college. There was a practical session on Yoga by Yogacharya M. K. Sivan, a renowned Yoga instructor. 50 students from different batches participated in it. The session concluded at 12.30 pm.
